It’s Our 25th Anniversary!

Let’s take a look back at how Leaves of Life came to be…

Once upon a time, back in 1998, our fearless owner and founder, Patty Shipley, found herself gripped in the clutches of chronic migraines, perioral dermatitis, clinical depression and severe asthma. Traditional medicine offered no resolution, so Patty turned to a group of holistic healers in search of answers.

Miraculously, within just two months of making radical changes to her diet and embracing herbal and homeopathic remedies, Patty's migraines and depression vanished into thin air, her perioral dermatitis cleared up completely, and she could finally breathe without the constant struggle of asthma. It was a transformation that altered the course of her life.

Fueled by her own incredible journey to wellness, Patty was determined to share this life-changing healthcare approach with others. She embarked on a journey of naturopathic coursework at Trinity College of Natural Health and began consulting with patients while juggling her responsibilities at a chiropractic office. Often, her makeshift office was an open massage room with her patients perched beside her on the massage table.

In two short years, Patty bid adieu to her job managing the chiropractic office and was fully immersed in her role as a holistic healthcare provider.  However, along the winding path to finding the right team and a permanent home for the practice were many stepping stones.

From 1998 to 2000, Leaves of Life was nestled in a chiropractic office in Hilliard.

In 2000-2001, Patty set up shop in an insurance office, still in Hilliard.

2001-2002 saw her moving into a different chiropractic office in Hilliard.

From 2003 to 2014, Patty found sanctuary at Central Ohio Compounding Pharmacy, and it was here that Francie Silverman joined forces.

In 2015, Patty, along with Francie, and a group of staff members, signed a 5-year lease in a business park in Mason Place. It was there that Joanne Corotto, Caitlin Pfeil and Holly Wood joined our growing team of providers, and we added our own on-site lab for patient blood draws.

At long last, in January of 2020, Leaves of Life unlocked the doors to what we knew would be our forever home—an office condo that, by some cosmic coincidence, happened to be the first space we looked at when our lease at Mason Place was up. In the time here, we’ve rounded out our team with the addition of Carol Starr.

At our 25-year mark, we all agree we have the best team we’ve ever had. We’re all here living “happily ever after,” continuing our journey, and spreading wellness and holistic healing to all who seek it.
